Making fruit butter is a wonderful way to use excess fruit all year long. It’s especially wonderful in the autumn when fall flavors scream for being slowly simmered in a slow cooker, with deep fall spices included.

But you don’t always have the time, patience, or excess produce to always do that.

Quick and Easy Pumpkin Butter Recipe

This is one of my favorite go-to toppings for pancakes or waffles for a treat breakfast. But it’s good for so much more!

Ingredients and process shots of creating pumpkin butter

Ingredients

  • 1 can pumpkin puree (a standard can is approximately 15 ounces) But if you happen to have pumpkin powder on your shelf, you can reconstitute it to make this puree!
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. Don’t have any? Make your own pumpkin pie spice blend with this easy recipe.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar. Make your own brown sugar for a better flavor!

Note: To make this with dehydrated pumpkin powder, rehydrate enough pumpkin powder for one can of puree:

2 C water to ½ C pumpkin powder = 2 C pumpkin puree

Besides using pumpkin powder for this easy pumpkin butter, there are so many other fabulous ways to use pumpkin powder!

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a small saucepan on low heat.
  2. Simmer for 15 minutes. No need to boil this because you don’t want to burn it.
  3. Allow to cool (though you can serve warm if you’d like to).
