Notes
Ingredients
This recipe is incredibly versatile. Use whatever dried fruit you like, leave out the pecans, add a little pumpkin powder, or whatever you'd like.
Dried apple shreds: Use whatever dried apple you have. You might need to break down your cinnamon apple slices to make them easier to chew. Of course, you can use fresh apples, as well.
Milk: use whatever milk you prefer such as oat, almond, goat, etc. Water can also be substituted.
Oatmeal: While this recipe uses rolled oats (old-fashioned oats), you can do a steel oats version in about ten minutes.
Darcy's Tips
This is a microwave-friendly recipe, but if you'd like to do this on the stovetop, that's fine. Just be careful to watch it more closely; it will take about twenty minutes to cook.
I like my oatmeal a little on the soupy side, so I often add a little more milk once cooked.
This sets up fast as it cools, so be sure to eat quickly.
Make a double or triple batch of this and save it in the fridge to reheat another day for a quick meal.
